Green Giving
Green Giving: Associates Embrace Earth Day
From San Antonio, Texas - where Kristin Moran and her team will bike or walk door-to-door distributing reusable tote bags filled with green tips - to northern Virginia where David Harbour and team will host a green homebuyers seminar - RE/MAX Associates across the country are doing their part to celebrate Earth Day.
The first Earth Day was held April 22, 1970, to bring environmental issues to the political forefront - and it worked. The inaugural event led to the creation of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and, subsequently, many environmental laws. Today, hundreds of millions of people worldwide participate in Earth Day.
"As real estate agents, environmental sustainability is pivotal in our business," says Harbour, a Sales Associate with RE/MAX Premier in Dulles, Va. "Agents who aren't looking at the green movement and incorporating it in their businesses in some way are missing the boat. There's a growing demand from homeowners for professionals with green expertise."

David Harbour On HGTV
David Harbour of the NOVA Green Team will be appearing on "Get It Sold" on HGTV tonight, February 28, at 6:00 PM, and tomorrow, March 1, at 11:30 AM. All times Eastern.
From HGTV:
Get It Sold helps people who haven't been able to sell their house in a softening real estate market. Top real estate experts explain why buyers aren't biting, and staging expert Sabrina Soto suggests simple fixes (no carpenter required) to get the home ready for the open house. A listing agent provides a close look at the competition through tours of other comparable homes in the area. Once the staging makeover is complete, it's time for the open house to get the house sold.

"One of the things that separates us from the hundreds of thousands of agents is we went through high-level training of green and economic-friendly practices. We've been learning everything about sustainable products to energy audits to energy efficient mortgages. That's one thing that definitely separates us. Hopefully we're taking the lead," Harbour said.
